Today is the 64th anniversary of the bombing of Pearl Harbor. When I taught 5th grade WWII history, the attack on Pearl Harbor was a huge launching point of our studies due to the fact that this event, besides being the largest attack on American soil (at that time) with a total of 2,400 Americans killed and 1,200 wounded, drew the United States irrevocably into World War II. There are a few 84 year old men and women remembering their friends and comrades today. In a few years, it will be left to the rest of us to remember for them.
